Internship in Taxation

 

Internship image1The taxation internship provides practical experience in a variety of taxation job functions within the accounting or tax services sectors, private industry, or nonprofits, and is an opportunity to apply the material previously studied in your taxation courses.  The internship is available to UCLA Extension certificate students who have completed a minimum of five courses in the Taxation Certificate.

Students intern with sponsoring companies for a minimum of 120 hours. Companies offering internships do so with no obligation to provide compensation to interns.

Applicable internship projects can include, but are not limited to, the areas of work/projects described below:

  • Research tax laws and regulations
  • Assist with completing various corporate tax returns
  • Provide assistance during tax audits
  • Assist in the maintenance of tax records
  • Prepare accounting or spreadsheet software reports
  • Maintain departments tax compliance calendar

Eligibility

UCLA Extension students who are enrolled in the Taxation Certificate and who have completed a minimum of five courses in their program. 

Quarterly Deadlines

Students will be granted permission to enroll once all internship documents have been signed by sponsor, director and associate dean.

Deadlines are:
Summer Quarter 2016 – June 6
Fall Quarter 2016 – September 5
Winter Quarter 2017 – December 12
Spring Quarter 2017 – March 17
Summer Quarter 2017 -June 12

Securing an Internship

UCLA Extension does not provide placement or guarantee internship availability. Students are responsible for securing a sponsor before enrolling in the internship. Enrollment is limited to the number of available internships.
