Certificate Curriculum

Students are advised to complete X475.1 Real Estate Principles since this is a prerequisite course for numerous courses in the curriculum. Students may enroll in the certificate program without a concentration or with a concentration.

Real Estate Certificate

Begin or advance your career in real estate by earning UCLA Extension’s Real Estate Certificate. This 9-course program arms you with the information and skills needed for each of the major career segments. Students may obtain the comprehensive certificate (no concentration) or a focused certificate with a concentration in a key industry segment: (1) Development (2) Investments (3) Leasing and Brokerage or (4) Property Management. Students must take the 4 core courses plus the fundamental courses, and 1 ethics course.

Requirements:

The prerequisite course, Real Estate Principles, may be waived based on professional experience or completion of an equivalent similar course at another institution. All courses to be applied toward this certificate program must be taken for a letter grade; a grade of C or better is required. Students receiving a grade of C- or lower must either repeat the course or confer with a Certificate Program Advisor to find a suitable substitute. Students must successfully complete Business Ethics at any time during the program.

Real Estate with Concentration in Property Management Certificate

Begin or advance your career in real estate by earning UCLA Extension’s Real Estate Certificate. This 9-course program arms you with the information and skills needed to properly evaluate specific acquisitions, how to build operating and financial plans, and the “hands-on” details of managing investment properties. Students must take the 4 core classes, one fundamentals course, 2 courses in the field of concentration, 1 elective course, and 1 ethics course.

Begin or advance your career in real estate by earning UCLA Extension’s Real Estate Certificate. Typical investments for individuals and families include rental housing, strip shopping centers, office complexes, land for future development, and publicly traded real estate corporations.
