Legal Secretary Certification

Becoming a certified Legal Secretary is recommended to maximize one’s success in a competitive job market, and many employers require it. There are several ways to become a certified Legal Secretary:

  1. If you have taken an accredited business/legal course or have one year of legal experience, you can take an exam to become an Accredited Legal Secretary (ALS).
  2. There is an advanced certification through the National Association of Legal Secretaries (NALS) called Professional Legal Secretary (PLS).
  3. You can become a Certified Legal Secretary Specialist (CLSS) through Legal Secretaries International if you have five years of law-related experience and pass an examination.
